今回のゲストは日本文学研究者にして翻訳者のジャニーン・バイチマンさん、現在なお進行中の与謝野晶子の短歌の英訳、そして2018年に26年ぶりに改訂版が出版された大岡信英訳詩集Beneath the Sleepless Tossing of the Planets: Selected Poemsから、All about the Wind (原題・風の説）を読んでいただきました。ご参考までに、晶子の短歌の英訳と原文のテキストを添えておきます。また大岡さんの「風の説」は、大岡さんが亡くなった2017年の暮れ、追悼の意をこめて17カ国の詩人たちがそれぞれの母語に翻訳し、Poetry International Web誌上で発表されましたが、その作業のベースとなったのもジャニーンさんの英訳All About the Windでした。今回はその時韓国語の翻訳を担当してくださった吉川凪さんにもお越しいただいて、韓国語の朗読をしていただきました。末尾に関連サイトへのリンクをつけておきましたので、そのほかの言語での翻訳や、このプロジェクトの裏話エッセイなどもお楽しみください。
